What is START?
Student Testing, Advising, Registration and Transition Program
 
START is designed as just that, the start of your transition to Maryville University.
The program will introduce you to the unique educational experiences that Maryville offers.

 

   At START - You Will Experience:

  Math placement test (if needed*)
  Welcome address from an Academic Dean
  Meet and interact with your future classmates
  Get your student I.D.
  One-on-one academic advising and class registration
  Financial aid information
  Mini-sessions to help you prepare for your fist semester on campus
  Technology 101
  Academics @ Maryville
  Your 1st Semester: What you Need to Know
  Campus and Residence Hall Tours (Optional)

 
Before you Attend START
Send your college and Advanced Placement (AP) credits to the Office of Admissions.
We will need the institution, exact course prefix, title, course number and credits earned
(e.g., Maryville University, MATH 116: Intermediate Algebra, 3.0)
Pay your $100 enrollment deposit ($250 for students living on campus)
Fill out your Parking Permit Application to bring with you

Saturday, April 19, 2008 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 31, 2008 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, June 12, 2008 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (with New Student Picnic)
Thursday, June 19, 2008 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Do I need to take the Math Placement Exam?
Students do not take the math placement test if one of the following apply: an ACT math subscore of 26 or higher (SAT math score of 600 or higher) OR an Advanced Placement Test in Calculus with a score of 3 or higher
 
Interested in the Bascom Honors Program?
Freshmen entering Maryville with a minimum ACT score of 27 and a high school GPA of 3.5 and above are invited to apply to the Bascom Honors Program. The mission of the Bascom Honors Program is to enrich the intellectual life of able and highly motivated undergraduate students, to create a community of students and faculty who love learning, to enhance the University’s intellectual climate, and to further the integration of liberal and professional learning.
