For most teachers, additional coursework and professional development enhances their practice
and allows them to be highly qualified to teach in a middle school. In addition, teacher compensation increases in most districts with the completion of the M.A. degree.
It is possible to complete initial post-baccalaureate middle level certification in conjunction with the M.A. in Education Degree. Usually, this requires additional coursework and day courses.
